4 Interesting Ways to Overcome Twilight Party Disasters

By Andrea McClure

This month many Twilight fans will be looking forward to the sequel of the popular Twilight movie. It is called New Moon and is the second film adaptation of the popular vampire novel series by Stephenie Meyers. One way that fans will show their excitement is by planning original and unique Twilight parties. This is something that was inspired by the Twilight Proms sponsored by Stephenie Meyers. However even a Twilight party is vulnerable to disasters. It can be anything from not getting the right venue to not having the DJ you hired come on time. Here are some tips to help you in case the unexpected happens at your event.

Be prepared for anything. This is the cardinal rule for whenever you plan an event. You can't count on everything going perfectly so have a couple of back up plans just in case. For example you should know that food and drinks are something that you should have in abundance. So look at your list of guests and make sure to by above what you need. This will help you prepare for extra hungry guests or uninvited party crashers. Also talk to neighbors so they know about your party and can help out if needed.

So you are at your party and the DJ doesn't show up. This can be a major crisis as it is likely to be one of the main sources of entertainment and help set the mood for the party. The simple solution is to use your IPod or Computer as your own digital DJ. If you have a MP3 dock or audio connections on your player you can connect your player to the home sounds system and have instant music. If you don't have speakers you can always by an affordable pair at Wal-Mart for about $40. So this should take care of your music problem. Also be sure to include tunes from the Twilight soundtrack.

What happens when you have more guests than you anticipated? If you are having the party at your home you know that the likelihood that the police will stop by has sharply increased. In this case a good idea is to go to your neighbors and ask for help. If you were prepared you already talked to them and let them know that you were having a party and you might need some help with controlling it. Either way some outside help can be useful in maintaining order. Also look to some reliable friends. Invite them to help out or call them if you are really in a pinch.

A party planner's worst nightmare is a party that becomes boring or slow. Try to shake things up with fun activities and music to get everyone up moving and having a good time. Try to give yourself room to be spontaneous and original with your entertainment and games. This will help to liven up the atmosphere.

In the end disasters happen but if you have a game plan in place you can keep problems small and if things get bad, you will have a plan of action to resolve it. This will make it easier for you to handle crises and roll with the punches. That way you can still have a pretty decent party that all your guests will enjoy.

Tips And Tricks You Want For Farmville on Facebook

By Aimee Jones

FarmVille was released last June 2009 by the game developer Zynga. It is a social game that was made available on social networks as well as on iPhones, when it was launched on Facebook; it gathered 10 million users in less than a month. This is why a lot of people nowadays are in search for the real cheats that would surely work on their farms.

For some, they are still new with the game, so they still have a few plots to make, starting with 6 is really not bad at all but when you start to realize how huge it can be then for sure you would be stuck on your computer waiting for your farm to grow.

If you search the internet, there are some cheats that may help you earn more coins and experience level faster that the usual, although some might work some might not, so its best to try them all first if you really can't wait to have a huge farm. Cheats are also great when you want to get to a higher level quickly, make more money, get better gifts, buy better decorations or even help friends out by sending them multiple gifts on the same day.

Here?s one that really works since I've tried them already as well. This will help you do things speedier especially when you are in the process of plowing, planting and harvesting. First, clear a section in your field of plots, you need to create a nice section of land, which only has grass on it. Clear nine spots in a formation and then walk your person in the middle of this section.

Go to the market, purchase the cheapest fences, and set the fences around the person. After you have set four fences down you will need to turn two of them. You can click on the fence when it is placed and turn it sideways. This effectively blocks in the person and now you can plow and plant much quicker.

To start this FarmVille cheat that really works, plow your 10 plots and buy soybeans. It will cost 150 coins to plow and 150 coins to plant soybeans, but delete those plots using the shovel tool immediately after seeds have been planted.

Now you might wonder why you should delete FarmVille plots in order to gain experience level points, but plowing and planting soybeans will gain you 30 points on those 10 plots. You can repeat this cheat process, each time it will cost 300 FarmVille coins in order plow and plant, and then delete using the shovel. You will see your FarmVille experiences quickly rising and coming closer to the next level where your ultimate goal is. After you have accumulated all the wanted experiences and gained a new level, you can plant the exact seeds that you wanted to buy.

Another thing that some people do in order to get coins from gift giving is opening a lot of accounts where in they could send back the same item across their accounts, however, Facebook does not always appreciate fake users, due to the fear of spamming, so sharing this trick with FarmVille buddies works best to get unlimited gifts every day.

Top 3 Places To Find Free Instrumental Music Online

By Aaron McLain

Today all you need are some basic research and browsing skills and you can pull up any number of sites offering streaming free online instrumental music in all genres, including jazz, new age, classical, and holiday favorites.

With a little detective work and patients you can find your own favorite websites that will play your favorite instrumentals. In this article I will share a few of my hot spots online where I go to get my free instrumental music online.

First on my list is AOL Radio. This is a place to go for music to relax and meditate by. And you dont have to be an AOL member to listen. Simply type AOL Radio in your browser and you are directed to their main Music site. From the main Stations by Category list located on the left side of the site, under Eclectic, youll find titles such as Ambient, Meditation, Nature Sounds and New Age. This site also offers a Classical section where you can find stations playing every type of classical instrumental music online that you can think of from Baroque to Renaissance. This is one of my favorite spots to go to listen to Classical instrumental music online. The music on AOL Radio is rarely interrupted with talking, save for the occasional two minutes for site identification purposes. To check out this site go to www.music.aol.com.

You wont be able to find any Christian instrumental or Christmas holiday instrumental music on AOL. So, for those of you wanting to listen to free instrumental Christian music online, sign up on www.crosswalkradio.com. Youll be asked to register on the Salem Web Network All-Pass System, after which, they will send you an e-mail confirming your registration. Once you are logged into Crosswalk, you simply click the "Instrumental" button and you are on your way to listening to some of the best Christian instrumental music on the web.

Every Christmas I love to hear the sounds of those old Christmas songs without all the sappy lyrics. Just good ole fashion music is all I need to get me in the Christmas spirit. The place I like to visit online for Christmas instrumentals is Live 365. Live 365 has a ton of live DJs that broadcast everything from the classics to holiday favorites. I like their wide variety of instrumental radio station and whenever I hear a song I dont like I simply change to a different station. The only bad I have to say about Live 365 is that they have a lot of annoying commercials, but that can be remedied with a low monthly subscription.

Jazz is the rebel when it comes to music and its no different when dealing in the world of instrumentals. The number one place on my hot spot list when I want to hear some rebellious instrumental music is My Music Stream. This website has tones of instrumentals, but I mainly use it for the latest and greatest in the jazz instrumental music world. Also I like the fact that I can download free jazz instrumental music or just listen to them live and streaming.

Score another point for My Music Stream. This is also the place I visit to get my instrumental mix of blues. Like jazz they have a wide variety of blues instrumentals that comfort me in my time of need.

Hopefully, these suggestions will get you started on your way to finding some of the best instrumental music on the web. Now you can build your list of the best places online to download or listen live to your favorite music instrumentals. Until next time

Suspended paper lanterns

By Cody Scholberg

The process for Hanging Paper Lanterns is now used to decorate places where happy events are staged. Other than employed at celebrations, they are used as permanent items in buildings and gardens. Illuminative paper lanterns come as preassembled or knock down types.

People now have the option to buy decorative lanterns that need assembly at home or ones that are pre-assembled. Assembling decorative paper lanterns is easy. Twenty minutes is all you need to assemble a hanging paper lantern.

When you buy hanging paper lanterns, you can see that they are equipped with a metal tool for expanding the paper globe as well. The cord required to hang the lantern must be purchased separately. Since the cords normally come in 10 to 15-foot lengths, you may have to add an extension in the event you need more length.

You need the install the cord after the expansion. Place the cord along the wall and hook it to the ceiling. Use a suitable tape to affix the cord to the ceiling. However, hooks are better than tape to secure the cord. Install the bulb after that.

After you reshape the lantern, you will need the cord to hang it. Place the cord along the wall to the top and hook the cord to the ceiling. Select a tape that will stick the cord well. The cord can be fixed with hooks which are stronger than any tape. Install the light next. As electric fixtures may cause fires, keep enough space between each side of the lanterns when positioning the bulb. It is more suitable to use CFL bulbs rather than other types because these bulbs heat up less.

Many people use CFL bulbs in illuminative paper lanterns because they emit lower heat than incandescent bulbs. The bulbs should have appropriately low wattage to avoid the occurrences of fire. Switch on the light to see if all the operations work smoothly. Faulty installation may not produce the desired result some times. Re-install the bulb, if it is the case.

Gere gives a powerful performance in one of his best roles, as an arrogant attorney who, for once, doesn?t have all the facts straight. Newcomer Norton is additionally very impressive. The film loses some of its impact by going on too long and by following unconnected tale facets. Richard Gere, Laura Linney, John Mahoney, Alfie Woodard, Frances McDormand, Edward Norton, Terry O'Quinn, Andre Braugher, Steven Bauer, Joe Spanq, Tony Plana, Stanley Anderson, Maura Tierney, and Jon Seda. (129 minutes,'96)

A Life of Her Own: Turner is at the hub of 3-way romance leading to heartbreak for all. Dvorak wraps it up with her master depiction of an aging model. Cast includes Lana Turner, Ray MillaItd, Tom Ewell, Louis Calhern, Ann Dvornk, Margaret Phillips, Jean Hagen, Barry Sullivan, and Phyllis Kirk. (108 minutes,'50)

I hope you enjoyed the reviews. As we said before, search with "Download Movies Legal", or "Movie Downloading" to find good information on downloading. Another good term might be "Best Music Download Sites".

A Few Various Motion Picture Outlines To View

By Merle Webster

For a long time we have used the video store as one of our main ways to access movies. As technologies have advanced, downloading dvds off movie download sites is becoming very common. Following is a list of a few movies that you can get using a movie download site.

Jack Be Nimble: Strange, smart little chiller in which the title personality is adopted into a family of bad people and he is neglected completely. So he sets out to find his long-lost sis, and then to seek revenge for his mistreatment. Cast includes Alexis Arquette, Sarah Smuts-Kennedy, Bruno Lawrence, Tony Barry, and Elizabeth Hawthorne. (93 minutes,'93)

Trading Mom: It's about three siblings who couldn't stand their mom. Spacek cast a spell which makes her and all memory of her vanish. Here is a flat and inanimate story with meager production values. Cast includes Sissy Spacek, Anna Chlumsky, Aaron Michael Metchik, Asher Metchik, Maureen Stapleton, and Merritt Yohnka. (82 minutes,'94)

Airplane: Extremely ludicrous spoof of Airport with a nonstop amount of gags that keeps up almost to the end. Our top choice: the bizarre plight of Lt. Hurwitz. Stay tuned through the very last credits. Cast includes Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Robert Pile, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Leslie Nielsen, Loma Patterson, and Stephen Stucker. (100 minutes,'84)

Unbreakable: Elijah Price has lived his whole life with a horrible bone condition. His bones are so weak that they shatter with the slightest jolt. From his reading of comics, he is convinced that there is an opposite of him living in the world. The story is of his search to find this "unbreakable" man.

Pearl Harbor: This epic movie looks at the devastation of that eventful day, December 7,'41 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This story follows the incredible courage of a nurse and two daring pilots, who bravely move forward, all the time trying to deal with the overwhelming catastrophe before them.

Jackie Chan's Who Am I: Chan is part of a secret armed forces team sent on a lethal mission. He loses his memory, and can't figure out why people are after him. This is an action film with very little else to it. Cast includes Jackie Chan, Michelle Ferre, Mirai Yarnarnoto, Ron Smerczak, Ed Nelson, and Tom Pompert. (108 minutes,'98)

Spungen: Director Cox accomplishes a masterful level of a documentary-reality. He then laces it with metaphorical fantasy icons, with striking outcomes. At the center of the film are two incredible performances by Goldman and Webb, who don't appear to be acting at all: They are Sid and Nancy. The movie is a downer, to be certain, however captivating. (105 minutes,'69)

The Beverly Hillbillies: This is a movie based on the'60's TV series. When Jed Clampett accidentally finds oil on his rural land in Arkansas, he becomes an instant billionaire. He brings the whole Clampett clan out to Beverly Hills. Being simple country folk they are pray to every money hungry con artist in the big city.

The Cuckoos: Following their prosperity in Rio Rita, RKO rapidly teamed up Wheeler and Woolsey for this similar musical comedy in regards to the ventures of 2 fake fortune tellers who get mixed up with gypsies. Cast includes Bert Wheeler, Robert Woolsey, June Clyde, Hugh Trevor, and Dorothy Lee. (97 minutes,'30)

A phrase like "Movie Music Downloads" might get a good result. When one search fails to succeed just change things and try again. Make another attempt with "Movie Direct".

This Is It Motion Picture By Michael Jackson Headed For A Great Hit

By Solis Obrien

The soon to be released, "This Is It" has Michael Jackson fans pumped and excited to revisit his last weeks before his untimely passing, just four months ago.

Get ready for an upbeat King of Pop to show exactly what he was put on this earth for, to dance, sing and pour his soul out to all his fans.

The "This Is It" film is more a behind the scenes documentary showing the rehearsals of his 50-show run at London's O2 arena and was to be the King of Pop's final tour. Because he was in the middle of these rehearsals led many to believe he was too frail or sick, or even under the influence of drugs to be able to complete this tour.

But watching the film you can see he was not. To complete this documentary was a huge undertaking for Director and Choreographer Kenny Ortega. Kenny had over 100 hours of rehearsal footage to choose from to give the audience a glimpse of what Michael goes through for the biggest and best concert tour ever. It was condensed into an almost two hour footage including some of Michael's biggest hits like "Billie Jean".

This "behind the scenes" documentary is interesting to watch and gives you a glimpse into Michael's world. You'll see just what Michael experiences in his daily rehearsals and just what a "perfectionist" he was. He was strong and moved effortlessly across the stage, singing and pouring his soul out, song after song.

Michael's a perfectionist and you'll see that as he guides his team with a firm but loving hand. His rehearsals are upbeat but relentless, and as he says, "That's why we have rehearsals". But at the same time he always gives love out as he always ends his sessions with "God Bless" or "It's all for love".

You can see that he always wanted everyone to laugh and have fun. It was very interesting to watch Michael because he was such a perfectionist and it showed.

From the musicians to the dancers, to the special effects, Michael guided his team with a firm hand, but yet showed much compassion, love and kindness toward everyone around him. He was always quick to give a "God Bless" or "It's all for love" at the end of every practice.

Whether you are a Michael Jackson fan or not, I can guarantee you that "This Is It" will make you think twice about him. The guy had a tremendously big heart for people and his music. You get that. And you feel it. And you won't help but dance in your seat when you watch it. It's very obvious after watching the King of Pop, that he was truly happy and healthy in the weeks before his untimely death. Although he will be missed dearly, we can now go back again and again through the "This Is It" film footage to revisit our dear friend who will forever live on in our hearts, as we were in his.

Mr. Nice Guy: Jackie Chan, a Television cook, is chased by 2 sets of men who are both after an incriminating videotape that's fallen into his hands. (167 minutes, 2006)

The Jackie Robinson Story: Simple bio of Robinson, the first black man to play Major League Baseball. Captivating as a historical story; pointed in its presentation of the racial issues engaged. Shoot Good Digital Video With Your Camcorder

By Chris Vorelli

Let me tell you from experience how important it is to know how to shoot good digital video with your camcorder before going on that vacation or filming that big event. When I was getting married my sister offered to film the happy day for me with her new camcorder, I agreed as it would save money on the wedding as a videographer could get quite expensive.

Let me tell you how wrong I was, the digital video was dark, shaky and blurred anytime she went into zoom or moved around the room. The sound was off and muffled and it was more of a headache to watch rather than a joy. In a nutshell, I wish I spent money on a good digital video shooting.

I don't want people to make the same mistake that I did so to spread the word on my learning experience I would like to pass on some great tips on how to shoot good digital video with your Minidv camcorder.

Tip #1 - Do not record while walking or moving about as the digital camcorder cannot stay focused on a moving object. Choose a place to stand and begin by recording a starting point for a few seconds before moving onto the next object. Slowly and carefully pan the camcorder to the next point of focus and hold there for a few more seconds before you stop shooting.

Tip #2 - Avoid excessive zooming of objects, not only does it kill the camcorder battery faster, it can give the viewers a crazy headache. If there were a moment you'd like to catch up close, stand still and take your time while zooming and shooting video, also try to avoid any quick motions, as the image will blur.

Tip #3 - Make sure that the lighting around you is bright enough and do not point the camcorder lens directly facing sunlight, not only can this damage the video camera lens, it will also blacken the images making for an unpleasant movie. If you plan to be indoors, I suggest you invest in a camcorder light attachment that can easily be placed onto the video camera and turned on if needed.

Tip #4 - Last but not least, my favorite camcorder accessory by far has to be a Tripod. You can buy a cheap little mini table tripod for simple videos or you can invest in a larger stand up tripod for longer shooting of video. By using a tripod when recording, you can be assured that your images will not be shaky nor will the movie look amateur.

Movies Free Free Movies

By Alice Bender

Want to celebrate movie mania at home but don't know how to because of the financial crunch? What if I told you that you can without having to worry too much about finances? Hard to believe but true. Watch free movies from the confines of your home. All you require is a computer and an Internet connection with lots of time on your hand to sit back and enjoy the movies you have chosen to watch. I will tell you how to watch free movies.

All you need is an Internet connection at home to have movies and tv shows delivered to your computer for free. There are numerous sites online that enable you to view movies for free online. You can watch movies for free online by opting for any one of the three methods - online streaming sites, downloading movies sites or paid movie sites.

Online streaming sites are free and good for beginners. They can be viewed directly on the Internet browser saving you a lot of hard drive space. The quality of the audio and video is not that great because the videos are submitted by visitors to the site. This means that segments are mercilessly chopped off making the experience of watching these movies a bit annoying. The uploading takes a lot of time and is frequently interrupted by pop up ads and quizzes which you cannot ignore.

Downloading movies sites have better audio and video quality. The downloading time is ok but the space that each movie consumes on the hard drive can go up to 1.5GB, which is a lot. The problem with these sites is that there is no telling if you are going to download viruses as well. Only Torrence files can be downloaded which can be opened only on Torrence download programs.

Paid movie sites have the best quality in terms of sound and picture. The download speed is quite fast. The quality is so good that it can be viewed as HDTV on your TV. There is no threat of viruses whatsoever. If you have a surround system at home you can enjoy the movie just like you would in the movie hall.

A good idea is to research for good sites and read up reviews before making a choice. You can not only discover movies in every genre form the latest to the oldest but will also find TV shows and documentaries as well. Keep the pop corn bowl handy and have your favourite comfortable chair reserved for marathon watching.

Full HDTV Television

By James Junior

Since the federal regulation of mandatory DTV (digital television) signal, the subject of full HDTV (full high definition television) has become a more popular topic of discussion and has become more of an interest to the public. With the digital changeover, now everyone has access to HDTV signal. However, an HDTV display is still necessary in order to view high definition no matter what type of signal you have (cable, antenna, or satellite).

When talking about HDTV, the quality of the picture (or high resolution) is the main point. Anyone who chose to purchase or obtain an HD converter box still has an analogue picture on a CRT screen. The resolution of an NTSC-analogue TV described as 480i. The "i" in the description refers to the word "interlaced". The reason why is because the CRT tube in the analogue television only 240 horizontal lines available, but the television camera has 480 lines. Therefore, in order to present the look of a more vertical resolution, the television signal is interlaced. If you consider the aspect ratio of 4:3, using basic mathematics, you can see why the analogue TV resolution can be depicted as 640 x 480i.

The resolution of JDTV and full HDTV are what make them different from analogue TV. The full HDTV resolution is 1080i or 1080p. The standard HDTV has a resolution of 720i or 720p. The "p" stands for progressive scanning, meaning that the vertical scans are done at the same time instead of interlaced. With an aspect ratio of 16:9, the full HDTV has'20 x 1080 pixels while the standard HDTV has 1520 x 720 pixels.

Full HDTV, 1080p, would seem the product of choice; however, for a TV smaller than 42 inches the difference between standard and full HDTV cannot be seen. Consequently, these smaller TV's are available only in standard HDTV, either 720i or 720p. To enjoy full HDTV a 42 inch or larger screen is necessary.

Three choices of screen technologies are available for full HDTV. These are rear projection HDTV, full HD plasma TV and full HD LCD TV. Rear projection HDTVs are still available but this technology appears on the decline with many manufactures dropping out of the market. Therefore, one is left with full HD plasma TV and full HD LCD TV to choose between. Since a resolution of 1080p is assumed, other factors affecting image quality to consider are response time and refresh rate, contrast ratio and color reproduction.

Full HDTV plasma screens have a broad range in color, are very bright, and can have very large screens. Display screens of full HDTV plasma TVs can be up to 58 inches in size. Since the display panel is only about 2.5 inches thick, the televisions are only about 4 to 6 inches thick. Though there are claims of contrast ratios as high as 100K in plasma TVs, the highest contrast currently available in stores is 30K. The response time is .001 milliseconds while the refresh frequencies are 600 Hz. The advantages of a plasma TV over an LCD are that the screen has a better color reproduction and also has a wider viewing angle. Because of the fast response time, plasma TVs are great for viewing fast moving film such as sports.

Of course full HDTV plasma is not perfect. The power requirements can be as high as 500 watts for some large screen versions and because the screen is made of glass, glare can be a problem. Plasma displays are heavier compared to their LCD counterparts but can be wall mounted.

Full HDTV LCD displays have the same resolution as plasma full HDTV displays, but the LCD displays have a slower response time (2 milliseconds). This could result in ghosting during fast moving images. The refresh frequency of an LCD display screen is 240 Hz, but the contrast ratio has been improved so that it's the same as the plasma screen (30K). Though there are some differences in response time and refresh frequencies, LCD TVs are less expensive than plasmas.

Other than resolution, the other features of the two full HDTV options are more up to interpretation and the desire of the consumer. Ultimately, full HDTV is the best choice, taking into consideration the extra cost. However, be careful to make sure that if you're looking into an entire home theatre that your full HDTV is compatible with the system.

Xbox 360 Repair: Significance of the Red Power Supply Light

By Eric Frey

Unfortunately, compared to other next-gen consoles, the Xbox 360 is rather prone to problems. Something that makes gamers cringe are the three red lights. When three lights flash red on the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console, the upper-right quadrant light is the only light that does not flash red if the problem is serious. Here is some enlightenment on Xbox 360 repair of your power supply light that is showing that frightening red hue.

When there may be a potential issue with the system, the power supply light will glow a distinct red. You can distinguish this when the power supply light changes from green to orange to red whilst using the console. The reasons this occurs vary, but it typically arises when the external power supply has detected a fault.

Incorporated into the system itself are safeguards to help you and your system prevent damage to the console and the power supply. Depending on the severity of the problem, the power supply will radiate a red light or simple turn itself off when there is an abundance of current, when the voltage is too high, or when the temperature of the power supply is too high.

What are some available red light repair techniques? The first thing to check is coolness of the power supply. The red light is an indicator that the power supply is potentially too hot. If this is the case, you should let the power supply cool off for several hours in a well-ventilated area. Soon after it is cooled, the power supply light should change from red to orange if the problem is in fact the power supply temperature.

A sometimes overlooked problem would be the power supply plug itself. If it is plugged into an extension cord, surge protector, or power strip, the amount of voltage has a possibility of being incorrect. If this is the case, try plugging the power supply directly into the wall outlet.

If none of these approaches perform the trick, if possible, try using a different power cord and power supply unit with your console. If the console still fails to work, the concern is with the console itself. If all three Xbox 360 red light repair methods listed in this article are unsuccessful, be prepared to dole up the money to get your console fixed.

How Violinists Can Liberate a Bow Arm

By Clayton Haslop

Today's message should be very helpful to you if you are like many a violinist, and can always use an insight or two to keep your right arm technique sharp.

You see, most fiddlers have four main challenges where it comes to their bow-arm; keeping it straight, keeping it horizontal, achieving clean, non-disruptive string crossings, and coordinating changes of string and direction with the left hand.

Now, you may think of disagreeing with me. You may be thinking, 'my biggest problem is with spiccato, or up-bow staccato, or martel, I can do those other things.'

If that's the case, I'd say, you'd be wise to pay attention, since your difficulties may have more to do with these fundamentals than you think.

Actually today I'm just going to discuss the first two challenges - keeping the bow straight and keeping it horizontal. For most of us 'straight' is pretty well understood to mean parallel to the bridge. What is less understood, in my experience, is the need for the components of the bow arm to facilitate the horizontal travel of the bow.

And for this to happen there are exactly 3 joints we have that must ALLOW this to happen - the wrist, the elbow and the shoulder.

Take the wrist - one of the most common no-nos I see is a raising of the wrist at the frog. Raising the wrist immediately takes one component of your bow-arm out of the horizontal plane of movement that is so necessary to an efficient, seamless bow.

So how should the wrist flex? The wrist must flex forward, remaining within the 'plane of motion' the bow arm inhabits whilst also maintaining the bow in a position parallel to the bridge.

This idea of staying in the plane of motion extends to the elbow as well. I see a lot of players introducing unnecessary complications to their bow-arm by elevating and lowering the elbow in the course of drawing a full bow; and then they wonder why the bow 'chatters' on the string, or they have difficulty with quick string crossings and such.

Well, there's just too much going on, and all that contrary energy is getting fed right into the bow stick.

And last, there's the shoulder. How fresh is the memory of my father standing next to me tapping my shoulder to get it to relax during my early years of practice.

Though relaxed, the muscles in the shoulder must nonetheless control critical movements of the upper arm that come into play at the lower extremes of the bow and during string crossings.

I'll talk more about string crossings soon, yet for now it's important to understand that, although the shoulder is bearing the weight of the arm and bow, it must be relaxed, as it plays a critical role in moving the bow straight and horizontally at the frog.

One cannot confuse the vertical movements involved in string crossings with the lateral movements of the upper arm involved in bowing. They are two different and independent movements of the upper arm.

This morning I again made a worthwhile investment into my practice by playing Kreutzer Etude #2 at the extreme frog. You might be interested to know that for me to accomplish it, at tempo, from top to bottom with a really smooth detach bowing, I 'belly breathed' like a stallion in heat. You've got to keep the upper body absolutely relaxed to do this, and belly-breathing is a secret every violinist should know to facilitate this.
