White Cyc

By Phillip Guye

White cyc is really a stage background used to create the illusion of limitless environment or atmosphere. It's fantastic for video and still pictures allowing special effects to be combined with the image. The main benefit of a white filming stage could be the ability of making the background virtually fade away creating an array of alternatives for lighting style, and allows for the photographer's subject being shot to be center stage.

Modern technologies make it feasible for a line of white cyclorama products to be developed to fulfill the rising need for white cyc backdrops in a ton of environments and functions. This makes it feasible for a photographer to have his own white stage as part of his own studio without the need for booking a studio which has a white stage. The ideas of easy assembly and scaled-down white stage backgrounds originated from the founder of Pro Cyc named Fritz. Fritz had his ideal white studio made in Portland Oregon. The expenditure of money and time were huge, and engineering workers strained for months creating the facilities out of plywood and drywall. Throughout construction Fritz kept stating, "There must be a better way to create a white cyclorama studio.

Fritz was given his opportunity to test out his theory while building his second white stage facility in Portland right after his very first white cyc background endured water damage while filming a special effect. Fritz's next white cyc studio continues to be put into use in Portland Oregon today and is becoming hired out to customers like: Freightliner, Nike, Adidas, and Steinway among many others, using the convenient studio. The studio was repainted about four hundred times since opening, but the surfaces continue to stay smooth as the first day these were mounted.

The newest patented molds created by Fritz makes his firm Pro Cyc among the world's top manufacturers of modular white cyc backdrop systems. Pro Cyc's research and development is constantly getting new strategies and goods to satisfy the ever-changing needs and demands of today's media and high-tech industries.

Pro Cyc works directly with their customers making certain they are acquiring the best alternative for their demands. Pro Cyc's engineering can easily personalize white cyc sets to meet the specialized and demanding needs of their clients. In 2007 pro Cyc entered the personal studio market with a new product line reducing cyc technology right down to the size of a desktop, which shattered the concerns of catalog photography.

A Review Of The War Film Saving Private Ryan

By Lance Walter

By reading into an article such as this one, I can venture a guess that you are looking to learn a good bit about the impressive film "Saving Private Ryan" and why you might care to watch it or learn more about it. The truth is, there are several different reasons that this film is so impressive, and most of them will be brought out in the upcoming paragraphs, along with a plot synopsis.

It is no surprise that the man behind all of the action of this impressive film was none other than one of the most decorated directors of all time: Steven Spielberg. From his impressive feats to bring emotion to the audience through visual displays unlike anything they had ever seen before, this film does not disappoint.

Just by watching the first thirty minutes of the film, you will see one of the most graphic, exciting and dramatic opening sequences that might have ever been captured on film. This is meant to be a soldier's first hand view of D-Day. So you head from the boats to the other side of the beaches at Normandy along with several different soldiers and see the horror of war first hand.

When the action plateaus here, you are introduced to the main character of the piece, Captain John H. Miller and his company of men from all over the United States. They soon learn their new orders, which are to be the search and rescue unit to locate a paratrooper named Private James Ryan. However, this proves to be a rather difficult task in war torn Europe.

Why are they trying to find Private Ryan? Well, his three brothers all serve in the military and have all recently been killed in action. So Ryan is given a pass to go home and be with his grieving family and prevent his mother from losing all four of her sons to World War II. Miller's company is less than shy about telling him what they feel about looking for the Private, and if they think he deserves a free ticket home.

You get to know each and every one of the men in the company through various conversations that they have about their lives before the war, and their plans for when the war is finally over. When they reach Ryan and deliver the news, he still insists he remains at his post long enough to hold a key bridge in Allied control. He refuses to leave the company that he is with until he knows this key bridge is secure and not able to be used by the Germans.

This is an accurate depiction of all of the emotions and feelings that are relative to being at war. You are crying when the men are crying, you are scared when they are, and you celebrate when they do. This is an instant classic that everyone should see if they get a chance to, if nothing else for the incredible performances by Matt Damon (Ryan), Tom Hanks (Miller) and Tom Sizemore (Sgt. Mike Horvath).

So, when you are considering "Saving Private Ryan" there is a good bit to think about and understand. This article was meant to give you an introduction to the film and encourage you to see this 1998 classic if you haven't already. This might make you thankful for the life you have, and respectful of the commitment some made to ensure that you had that life the way that you do.

Watch Shame With William Shatner

By James Dixon

Roger Corman directed some truly commendable films in his day, and Shame may be one of his crowning achievements. The director may be most well known for his proficiency at churning out schlocky B movies with cheap monster costumes, cute girls in their underwear and Z grade scripts, but he found time now and then to really put his heart and soul into creating more personal, meaningful films in between all the more marketable drive-in flicks. Put Shame on your queue next time you sign into your movie download service.

The film is remarkably brave, focusing on racial hatred and tension in the south. This may not sound like a big deal, and civil rights movement films have since become a genre. However, you have to consider... It's easy to make a movie about tolerance in the 1990's, filming on Hollywood sets designed to look like towns in Georgia and Alabama. Corman actually took his crew to a small southern town at the start of the movement. It's not hyperbolic at all to say that he really risked his life for this movie, as he and his team received death threats.

William Shatner really owns the role of the villain in this film. It's his boyish charm that makes it work.

The concept of the charming racist villain may have been inspired by Adolf Hitler. Corman could have hired a villain actor to play the villain, but the inspired choice of casting someone who seems innocent on the outside exemplifies a primary theme of the film, that being that you need a handsome spokesman to sell ugly ideas.

Corman and his crew were actually run out of town when the local police got wise to what sort of a movie he was doing, and the last few shots he grabbed were literally filmed with the police only a few blocks away and closing in. Literally, the police were walking towards Corman at the time he was filming the last few shots, and he had to hurry up and wrap the shoot, and then pack everything in the truck and vamoose.

At this year's Oscars, the lifetime achievement award goes to Roger Corman, and there has been remarkably little coverage of his life and his work. It's too bad, because few filmmakers have contributed so much to the world of cinema for so little thanks.

It's true that Corman is primarily remembered as the maker of some truly cheap B films, but that's only one aspect of what he's done for American film. Besides making some true classics like Shame, he also launched the careers of Dennis Hopper, Martin Scorsese and Jack Nicholson, to name only a few of his many efforts and gifts to the modern cinematic landscape.

If you haven't really given Corman his day in court yet, watch Shame, and then check out X: The Man With The X-Ray Eyes. By creating low-profile B flicks on low budgets, Corman was able to get away with pretty much anything by simply flying under the radar and making every film as a low-risk investment, opening up several doors for creativity and the ability to deal with sensitive issues.

Robin Hood : The Expert Archer

By Joy Menezes

Ridley Scott's latest action-adventure ride Robin Hood starring Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett has number of amazing aspects to it. Technically all the pieces are there, it is well made, well put together, and amazing action sequences.

The film began development in 2007 when Universal Studios acquired a script entitled Nottingham, depicting a heroic Sheriff of Nottingham to be played by Crowe. Scott's dissatisfaction with the script led him to delay filming, and during 2008 it was rewritten into a story about Robin Hood becoming an outlaw, with the position of being Sheriff as part of the story. Scott dropped the latter notion and Nottingham was re-titled to reflect the more traditional angle.

Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richards army against the French. Upon Richards death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marian (Oscar winner Cate Blanchett), a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest.

Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marian and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff.

With their country weakened from decades of war, embattled from the ineffective rule of the new king and vulnerable to insurgencies from within and threats from afar, Robin and his men heed a call to ever greater adventure.

This unlikeliest of heroes and his allies set off to protect their country from slipping into bloody civil war and return glory to England once more.

"Robin Hood" looks great and often benefits from sparking dialogue by screenwriter Brian Helgeland (among many others who put their hands to it).

Early in the production, there were rumors that suggested his version of the legendary English archer would be a new spin on the familiar tale. Instead of Robin Hood rising to defend the poor against the evil rich and their law-enforcement lackey the Sheriff of Nottingham, it would instead be the Sheriff who is actually the hero, and Robin Hood an outlaw with less than noble motives

A Short Synopsis Of American History X

By Mariana Powers

You likely don't need a lengthy explanation of what this article is actually about. The content here will serve to properly introduce you to one of the most impressive films of all of the 1990s, "American History X". You should learn a few different things about this film to fully appreciate it as it was meant to be appreciated, and most of this prevalent information will be contained within the upcoming paragraphs.

It is often speculated that this movie was derived and based on real events, though there is nothing to suggest this or mentioned of it in the film. The reason for this is that this film is believable in that it is very candid and very raw. There is little that is left to the imagination in this film, and well acted characters have to learn hard lessons the hard way.

That is precisely what happens to the main character, Derek Vinyard. Through the scenes that get the film moving, you are introduced to Danny Vinyard who is Derek's younger brother and still in high school. He is asked to write a paper on his brother by his history teacher after a paper that he has written and submitted has landed him in some hot water with the officials of the school.

You also learn that Derek, his immediate family and his close friends all share a extremist skinhead view on the world. That world, indicates that black people are the problem that society has to put up with and for all intents and purposes should be eradicated. This began when Derek was a small boy and watched his father gunned down by a black drug dealer. He was taken under the wing of a white supremacist that encouraged him to stand up for himself. So Derek formed his own gang of white kids that would never be afraid of blacks in their community again.

You learn that Derek is in jail, and see a visual depiction of what landed him there. Some black people were attempting to break into his car, when he was alerted of it and he raced outside, gun drawn. He began firing at them all, killing one and wounding another. One managed to escape. The fate of the wounded would mark one of the most graphic scenes ever depicted on film, which was Derek forcing the man to put his teeth onto the street curb and Derek stomping on the back of his head.

Derek is forced to confront his hating ways in prison, when he realizes that he is the minority and there is no protection for him. He, through a lengthy series of circumstances, befriends a black man that he is on laundry duty with. Derek vows that he would do anything to take it all back and start over again far away from what he now represents. He learns that his younger brother is headed in the same direction, and he will not allow this to happen.

He is released and meets up with his girlfriend at a welcome home party. He asks her to move with her, but she refuses. He is also forced to face the man that taught him to be a white supremacist and tells him that this is no way to live. He and his brother leave, and Danny is able to finish the paper which you hear as the narration for the ending of the film.

The movie ends with Danny being shot in the bathroom at school by a black kid. Edward Norton (Derek) and Edward Furlong (Danny) bring this powerful story to light. "American History X" is a depiction in the difference between being right and believing that you are right. It is a statement of how far some people are willing to go to prove one way or another.
